Project Management
2006 Survey findings:
The authors Bricoune, Jomaa and Taha, in a survey made by EMSI in Grenoble in 2006, interviewed 2600 people working in big companies. Their findings confirm:
"Collaborative tools have a positive influence on collective efficiency and preventing isolation from the team".
"Communication and coordination tools (mail, shared schedule...) are recognized for their potential in terms of collective efficiency, although at the same time, direct personal contact is always more valued".
"Collaborative tools are often perceived as a way for management to capitalize on existant knowledge to facilitate employees' evolution and change".
(Quotes from a survey by Bricoune, Jomaa and Tah EMSI, 2006).
Silverpeas has designed its intranet conception based on 11 phases:
-
Identifying organisational units and working players
-
Identifying the major sectors of information (documents and data), and the most used applications
-
Identifying the main processes, responsibilities and roles (contributors, validators, readers)
-
Building a cross matrice (Players/documents, Players/data, Players/applications) and qualifying the relevance and importance of each part
-
Identifying problems (objectives, organisation, piloting, IT system, specific constraints (financial, legal, etc.)
-
Studying the possible impact of the platform on organisational units, objectives, problems, opportunities.
-
Organising collaborative spaces by service (UO), work, process, project, transversals issues (quality objectives, development, traceability, etc.)
-
Defining the catchment, rights (for players, workplace, groups, roles) on tools (Peas)
-
Defining the classification reference points(2 axis levels of the classification scheme)
-
Studying types of access for different people (sedentary, sales reps, travelling abroad)
-
Building a logistical deployment strategy and plan.
