Silverpeas^TMArchitecture:

Silverpeas is written in Java, using J2EE architecture. It needs no deployment on the customer workspace.
Silverpeas is certified for the following environments: JBoss, Jonas, Weblogic, Websphere and Borland.
Meta data is stored on a relational database: PostgreSQL, MySQL, Oracle, MS SQL, etc.
Attached files are stored on the "file system" of the server.
The platform uses mostly XML: Installation, forms, import-export, workflow, etc.

Silverpeas is a completely customizable Java-based collaborative platform. It enables the quick set-up of an Intranet and CACW (Computer assistated collaborative work) tools and gives centralised access to business applications.
Built around collaborative spaces, the user themsleves can define the organisation and deployment of a range of tools such as content management, document management or knowledge management, collaborative tools ( workflow, project management, shared diaries, yellow pages, blog, wikis, etc...) to suit their own needs.
