Introduction

Silverpeas is a platform for social collaboration, which has celebrated its tenth birthday in 2011.
Developed around strong requirements of its customers, its longevity gives Silverpeas, an unparalleled functional equivalent.

Silverpeas is now used both in EDM (Document Management), knowledge management, collaborative platform, content management, or social network.

Ideal tool for building an intranet, an extranet, or Web 2.0 site, Silverpeas has more than 50 leading references, such as Michelin, INRA, the INPI, the National Laboratory for testing, or more major hospitals in Europe.

Developed in Java J2EE, the solution was open 4 years ago under Open source (GNU Affero GPL v3, see community site: www.silverpeas.org), and its community of contributors continues to grow.

Silverpeas joined the OW2 consortium in 2010.
 
The construction of the platform took more than 100 years / human development and funding of more than 4 million euros attended :
- OSEO Anvar: 600 K €
- Rhone Alpes FCPI: 180 K €
- Venture capital: Sudinnova, Innovacom: 2.47 M €
- Group Oevo: 1 M €

The platform has been a Eureka project with EPAM in the Byelorussian. It represents about 600 000 lines of Java code.
